Overview

ONYX Arena is a free-to-play game in development. The current iOS beta supports solo matches against bots and private rooms with friends. It does not currently include game accounts, cloud-save recovery, real-money purchases, or advertising software. It includes an optional playtest match report feature that stays off unless you turn it on, described below.

That does not mean no information is processed. The game keeps some information on your device and exchanges information when you use private multiplayer, turn on optional match reports, or contact support. The website also relies on hosting, delivery, security, and font services that receive ordinary web requests.

ONYX Arena and this website are operated by MassConvert.

Information kept on your device

Your callsign, gameplay progress, settings, cosmetic unlocks, and related save information are stored locally on the device or browser you use. There is no game account or cloud-save recovery service in the current beta.

The game starts you with a default callsign stored on your device, and you can replace it with one custom name. Callsigns are not tied to an account, and there is no global player directory. Your callsign can be seen by people in a friend room. Do not use your real name, email address, phone number, or other personal contact information as a callsign.

Information used in private multiplayer

Private multiplayer uses a host player’s device and WebRTC connections. Connection setup (signaling) passes room codes, temporary peer IDs, your callsign, timestamps, and WebRTC session and ICE network-candidate information, which can include IP addresses, through the game service. Loadout, cosmetic, team, readiness, and gameplay event information is shared with other participants as needed to run the room.

A direct connection can reveal network or IP information to other room participants. If the direct path is unavailable, an HTTP fallback can route game commands or state through a server and database. Multiplayer should therefore not be understood as entirely peer-to-peer or as end-to-end encrypted.

Website, service, and support information

This website runs on Lovable hosting, which serves it through Cloudflare's network and workers, and its database is hosted on Lovable Cloud. These providers process request information such as IP address, browser and device details, requested pages, timestamps, and security signals to deliver the site, keep it secure, and operate the service. Cloudflare security or bot-management cookies can be used. Lovable describes its own handling in the Lovable Privacy Policy.

The site loads Google Fonts through Google infrastructure. Font requests can include usual request information such as IP address and browser details. The project also contains error reporting to optional Lovable hooks and server diagnostics. The website has no advertising or tracking analytics integration. Its forms are the beta signup, the support request form, and the map concept submission form described on this page.

You can reach support at support@playonyxarena.com, operated by MassConvert, or through the request form on the Support page. A message may include your contact information, request text, and anything you voluntarily provide. It is used to reply, troubleshoot, or handle a privacy request.

Website administrator sign-in

The website has a private administration area with Google sign-in. It is separate from the game and is not a player account. The sign-in service may store the Google account's verified email, basic name, profile photo, and stable account identifier, plus a user ID, session records, and records of sign-in attempts, including attempts by people who are not authorized. Only the one pinned owner identity can open private records.

Sign-in requests only basic identity. It gives no access to Gmail, Google Drive, or other Google data, and the website never receives a Google password.

Beta signup

The website offers a voluntary beta signup form. If you choose to sign up, we collect the email address you provide, your name, your region, and your chosen gamertag, plus an application ID and submission time. Applications are stored in the website's database and reviewed individually; review and enrollment actions are logged.

If an application is approved, only the name and email are sent to Apple, which then sends the TestFlight invitation. Region and gamertag are not sent to Apple. The dashboard may show Apple's reported tester or enrollment status, which does not prove that an email was delivered. Saving an application does not currently notify anyone by email. Signing up is optional and does not guarantee approval, an invitation, or a release date. You can ask for your signup to be corrected or removed by emailing support@playonyxarena.com; see the User Privacy Choices page for the steps.

Beta signup information is kept while the beta program is being organized and is not used for advertising or sold to anyone. Retention follows the purposes and cleanup criteria described in the retention section below.

Optional playtest match reports

The game includes an optional setting, "Share my playtest match reports". It is off unless you turn it on. The game creates new reports only while that setting is on. Reports already received remain until cleanup, and a report already in flight when you turn the setting off may still arrive.

Reports currently come only from ONYX Labs test builds, and only after you turn the setting on. The sender in the main ONYX app is switched off.

When the setting is on, the game may send a short report after a round you finished, left, or that was interrupted. A report contains:

  • a random install ID and a random event ID, both created by the app;
  • game build, version and rules, plus start and end timestamps;
  • mode, map, your starting pilot, and whether you switched pilots;
  • whether you played solo, as host or as guest, and how many humans and bots took part;
  • the outcome and whether the round was completed (unfinished rounds report the outcome as unknown);
  • time the game was in the foreground and the match length; and
  • where tracked, kills, deaths, goals, passes, catches and interceptions (these can be empty).

A report does not include your email, callsign, chat, room code, peer ID, device model or hardware ID. Like any web request, sending a report means our hosting providers process your IP address and ordinary request information.

Reports are sent by the game and are not checked against anything. They are not verified identities, verified scores, unique matches, or a count of people. We use them to understand participation and to balance pilots and maps.

To turn it off, open Settings, then Advanced, and switch off "Share my playtest match reports". Turning the setting off stops future reports and clears the app's waiting queue and its install ID. A report already being sent at that moment may still arrive. Reports we have already received are not deleted when you opt out. A daily cleanup removes reports after 90 days, normally within about 91 days; each run removes a bounded batch, so a failed run or a backlog can delay this. The install ID is random, but it is not anonymous: it links your reports together, and it is not a verified identity.

If you choose to share your install ID with us, the owner may manually link it to your approved beta application. That link is a label we added, not verified identity. It stays after you opt out until we remove it or your application is deleted. To ask for that, contact support@playonyxarena.com. To ask us to delete reports already received, email that address with the install ID you shared from the game, since we cannot find your reports without it.

Map concept submissions

The Map concepts page lets you send an arena idea for private review. We collect the title, the display name you choose, your contact email, your description, and an optional image, plus a submission time. Images are checked, stripped of embedded metadata where supported, and stored privately.

Only the ONYX owner can see submissions. Nothing is posted publicly automatically, and submitting does not mean an idea will be used. Please leave out personal information and only send work you have the right to share.

Why information is used and who receives it

Information may be used to:

  • provide solo play, requested private rooms, and game connection features;
  • maintain safety, reliability, diagnose problems, and prevent abuse;
  • reply to support and privacy requests;
  • review beta applications and arrange TestFlight access for approved applicants;
  • understand playtest participation from reports you chose to share;
  • review map concepts you chose to send;
  • protect the private administration area; and
  • meet applicable legal obligations.

Where applicable, the legal basis may be providing the play or support you requested, legitimate interests in operating a secure service, compliance with legal obligations, or consent where the law requires it.

Information may reach other players in your room, hosting and network providers, Google for font delivery and administrator sign-in, Apple for approved beta applicants, and the email provider used for support. Providers may process information in other countries. We do not claim specific contractual transfer safeguards beyond those described in each provider's own published terms.

Retention and security

Local game information remains on your device until it is removed, overwritten, or restored from a backup. Room and connection information is temporary and subject to cleanup, which currently runs opportunistically as service requests occur. No fixed deletion time is promised.

Hosting, network, security, and database logs and backups kept by our providers follow their own retention, based on running and securing the service, troubleshooting, abuse prevention, security incidents, and legal requirements. We have not verified an exact retention period for these logs for this project, and the 90-day match report cleanup applies to our report records, not to provider logs or backups. The website's own code does not log report contents.

Reasonable technical and organizational measures may be used to protect information, but no internet service or device storage is guaranteed to be completely secure.

Your choices and privacy rights

You can avoid joining a multiplayer room, change your callsign, manage local app or browser data, and use browser controls for website data. See the practical steps on the User Privacy Choices page.

Depending on where you live and the circumstances, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, portability, restriction, or objection, and to complain to a local data protection authority. These rights do not apply identically in every jurisdiction and may be subject to legal exceptions and reasonable identity verification.

There is no game account to delete. Requests involving support, beta, match report or map concept data can be sent to support@playonyxarena.com. Future accounts, purchases, or other material data uses will be described before those features launch.

Children, age rating, and future features

The current game does not have a verified date-of-birth prompt or age gate. Parents or guardians can use the support contact above.

ONYX Arena is free to play and will remain free to play. Optional purchasable items are planned for later, but no checkout or card collection is currently implemented. Any future purchases or accounts will receive an updated explanation before launch.
